UPDATE: I can proudly say that our nearly 6 month scan was CLEAN!!!!! Ugh I can’t even tell you the weight that has been lifted! Only issue now is that Mac has gained about 5 pounds and the vet would like to see him lose about 15 total :/ He has always had weight issues but it’s especially tough since he’s so dang cute and loves food like he needs oxygen.
This will be short since I plan to post an update later but for the past month I have been postponing Mac’s second set of scans literally every week. Well, today is the day and we’re going through with it!
I AM SO NERVOUS I CAN HARDLY BREATHE!!!
While I feel fairly confident that the scans will go well and nothing will show up, I also am dreading the possiblity that there will be something there. Things have been going so well and Mac is as good as ever and the idea that it could be bad news is prematurely breaking my heart!
I keep thinking of Sally – how she stopped all scans, etc. after Happy Hannah was done with her treatment plan. How liberating it must be! But then, at the same time, I feel like I need to know…
In any case, keep Mac in your prayers! Will update later. Send soothing thoughts …
Totally normal to feel anxious. I’ll be keeping both you and Mac in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers being said for Mac and you!
This is absolutely flipping AMAZING news!!! I am so happy for you all!!! YAY Mac!!!! You are a ROCKSTAR!!!! Keep on the good fight! HUGS!!!!
So happy Mac passed his 6 month exam. I know how hard it is to not give him treats or more food especially now but think of how hard it is for him to get around with that extra weight and you are the one in charge. My husband is really bad about giving extra food and I have to really remind him that extra food does not mean extra love. Try carrots for a treat. Good luck.

This SO accurately describes my fiance!! I was so strict about giving him 1 level cup per meal and then he started telling me he felt bad for Mac, that he was always hungry, so he was really giving him a heaping cup plus a handful extra. Well, I didn’t want to be the mean parent so I started giving him a lil’ extra too. And now poor Mac needs to lose some weight. So I made him promise to give him a level cup or I will take over feeding responsibilities!!
The vet recommended giving him a senior food so he can eat more of it and to top it off with vegetables. Will try that and see what happens…
penny4weins, I agree with you about the food-as-reward dilemma for tripawds. The blog I just posted about our Phoenix (who celebrated her 1-yr. ampuversary) notes the necessity of keeping an eye on their weight.
So hoppy for you! Like Sally, we chose not to do scans after chemo; his treatment wouldn’t alter if he had mets or not, and I’m trying to be more dog. Celebrate! You deserve it!

Oh YAAAAY! That’s fantastic news about the x-rays, soooo hoppy for you guys!!!
Now, about that extra poundage. Did you know that Leslie McMahon of Two Hands Four Paws rehab has a weight loss program for doggies? We’ve seen some good results with it, do check it out (and remember, Tripawds Foundation has our rehab reimbursement program for the first consult, so hop over to check it out oK?). 15 lbs is a lot of weight to lose but we know Mac can do it with your help. Keep us posted, we’ll be cheering you on!
